DCL Adds NVO Industry's First Direct Consolidation 
Service into Marseilles

Carson, California USA- Direct Container Line, the California-based NVO, will launch a new consolidation service into Marseilles later  this month. The new weekly service is the first direct consolidation service offered from the USA into Marseilles and will feature a transit time of 18 days from New York.

Before starting this service, DCL provided service to Marseilles, the second largest city in France, via rail and trucking service from containers delivered into Paris. The direct service is expected to broaden the company's reach in providing local on-forwarding services within Southern France. For service to other destinations in France, DCL has been able to expand its service coverage on direct routes to include direct service into Le Havre and Paris from New York, Atlanta, and Chicago. The addition of the Marseilles service reflects an ongoing commitment to expand direct service offerings to new destinations.

"Our perception is that we're pretty well covered as far as direct services to the major volume ports in Europe and need to expand our direct service coverage to cities like Marseilles. Our focus will now be on taking out the intermediary step of trans-loading cargo in the major European cargo centers," stated Bruce Ericson, Vice President of Sales, for DCL.

Over the past year, DCL has done this successfully in several markets, developing direct services to cities like Basel, Vienna, Glasgow, and Liverpool. "Most of our customers recognize the benefits of a direct service-faster transits, a lower chance for damage or delay, so it's a win-win situation," added Ericson.

DCL has also restructured its agency representation program in Europe, nominating ECU Line as its handling agent in Antwerp, Bremen, Hamburg, Paris, and Rotterdam. DCL and ECU Line have expanded that arrangement to include ECU Line's office in Marseilles, which will be the receiving agent for this service.
